The Potent Healing Power of a Grown Up Tantrum

Repression creates so much trouble.


Smoothing things over to calm ourselves down is not the answer. That’s the very thing that caused the problems in the first place.


The human race is in bad shape because we largely condemn emotionality. Bad feelings get locked up inside and cause all sorts of insidious sabotage. Our wounding always finds a way of leaking out to cause trouble; illness, accidents, breakdowns, depression etc.


Release will rescue us, not holding things together via suppression.


If the path to nervous system regulation involves meditation or breathing exercises, for example, to subdue fury, grief, or anxiety, the problem is being exacerbated, not resolved.


A tantrum can offer much more effective and self-sustaining nervous system regulation.

Once the bad feelings are honoured through expression, the body can very easily take care of its own homeostasis without requiring any calming practice.
