Cacao Fasting

It’s almost a magic carpet ride. Velvet-like. Corduroy.

It offers the most magical intervention - dislodging the mind and thrusting forth a rich bodily informed experience of the day. A potent lead in to heartiness. Good feelings are surfaced that are somehow immune to the usual diminishment that can come from mental overdrive.

Ceremonial cacao offers the biggest lift, but for the new initiate a cacao powder will certainly still be effective.

Drink a cup first thing in the morning and follow up with 3 or 4 as the day progresses. Have the strongest one first up and then taper them off slightly. Stop by 3pm to ensure a restful wind down in the evening.

Blend with hot water and sweeten with honey. Don’t be tempted to add even a hint of anything else. Allow the cacao to reveal the fullness of it’s scope without any other additives.

Choose a day of minimal obligations. Be as leisurely as possible. You’ll get better and better at the leisure as you surrender further each time. It’s an incremental process.

Acknowledge the inherent wisdom of the cacao plant and consciously invite it deep into your being. Cradle the cup in your hands before taking the first sip and feel into the changing nature of the particular gift that it can offer each time.

Appreciate that there is a significant integration period that follows after a single day of cacao only. Go slowly and feel for the all the changes, big and small, that will be settling (over the following 4 days especially).

Don’t rush to repeat it too soon. In the beginning, allow 2 weeks to pass before another day of fasting. As the deep rewiring occurs, a greater receptivity is awakened for everyday sensuality, happiness, peace, inspiration and loving feelings. The effects are cumulative.
